Embsay pub raise over £3,000 for hospice charity

An Embsay community coffee morning has raised an impressive £3,173 for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in memory of two much-loved local men.

The fundraiser was organised by Karen Hodgson and Helen Brewster and was held at The Elm Tree Inn in July, bringing residents together to remember Brian Hodgson and Jeffrey Brewster while raising money for the hospice.

The morning featured hot drinks, bacon sandwiches, toasted teacakes and homemade bakes, with people from across Embsay supporting the event and contributing cakes and other treats.

Coffee Care in Skipton also supported the fundraiser by loaning a coffee machine and providing coffee for the morning.

The owners are already planning another fundraising event, with a quiz night due to take place at The Elm Tree Inn later this year in a bid to raise even more money for Sue Ryder.

Emily Hudson, Regional Fundraiser at Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, thanked everyone involved.

She said:

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to Karen, Helen and everyone in the Embsay community for their incredible generosity and support.

“Raising more than £3,000 is a fantastic achievement and will make a real difference to the vital care we provide, including at Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.”

The money raised will help support the work of Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, which provides specialist care and support to people living with life-limiting conditions and their families across the local area.
