Broughton Road Recreation Ground gets new additions thanks to Tesco grant

Broughton Road Recreation Ground.

New additions have been installed at Broughton Road Recreation Ground in Skipton after the project received funding through the Tesco Stronger Starts scheme.

The improvements have been made possible thanks to local shoppers who voted for the project in-store using Tesco's blue token voting scheme.

Skipton Town Council previously put the project forward for funding, with the money intended to provide additional play equipment for younger children using the recreation ground.

Tesco Stronger Starts is a UK-wide community grant programme, managed in partnership with Groundwork UK, which supports projects aimed at improving the lives of children and young people.

Grants of up to £1,500 are available, with shortlisted local projects put to a public vote in Tesco stores.

Projects can include play areas, equipment for children and young people, healthy activities, breakfast clubs and other initiatives supporting children's health and wellbeing.

Skipton Town Council shared their appreciation.

They said:

"We have some lovely new additions at our Broughton Road Recreation Ground, with thanks to the Tesco Stronger Grants.

"Thank you to everyone who voted for our cause in store.

"We hope that all visiting children (and grown ups!) have a great time playing."
