Skipton Manorlands group launch Yorkshire photography competition

Keen photographers across Airedale and Wharfedale are being invited to enter their best images into a photography competition which will raise vital funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope.

The Yorkshire Photography Competition, which has been organised by volunteers from the Skipton Manorlands Fundraising Support Group, is now open for entries and will close on Monday 30 November 2020.

There are six categories to choose from, all of which must be Yorkshire-themed: Scenery, Wildlife, Pets, Seasons, People & Places, and a Young Photographer (under 16s) category who can choose any of the above categories. It’s only £3 to enter a photograph via the Justgiving page.

The lucky winners will receive fantastic prizes which have been donated by Maple Leaf Images in Skipton and their winning photographs will be also published in the Craven Herald and other local press.

Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice anticipates a funding gap of £1.5m for this financial year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The Skipton Manorlands Fundraising Group ishosting this competition to help raise money so that the hospice can continue providing expert palliative care and support to local people with life-limiting conditions.

Kelly Smith, Chair of the Skipton Manorlands Fundraising Support Group, said: “We hope that the competition will appeal to a huge array of people. Taking photos is so easy now with the quality of cameras on personal phones, we are really excited about seeing some of the amazing photos people have taken of our gorgeous county. We are limited with what we can do during these times to raise much-needed funds for the hospice so we encourage everyone to enter – let’s flood the photography competition Facebook page with stunning photos to cheer everyone up during these difficult times.”
